True. But the other biases (logical errors) are also problematic (e.g. overgeneralization), and they do tend to come from that “egocentric place” you mention.
What’s interesting is why we have these biases, and whether they are actually built in, and/or a product of how the brain functions, and I believe they are built-in.
Many of the biases come from the brain’s function in chunking down, or reducing the amount of information it has to deal with.
Social media both increases the amount of information around each of us, and allows us to be egocentric more often.
