Once again I am asked to sympathize with a bunch of folks who, despite a 450 year headstart, including a century of Jim Crow terrorism that would make Mao blush, failed to prosper.

You know why people of all colors are living in shitty, depressing conditions in the South? It’s because someone thought it would be a good idea to keep 20% of the population from a good education and the same access to jobs & opportunities because their skin was brown.

How many of these communities would have better conditions if brown folks had been given an opportunity to create wealth, build businesses, educate themselves and become employers?

The good old days of “full employment” they whine about was when white men got first pick of everything and whatever dirty, dangerous shit jobs were left MIGHT be given to black men with families to feed too.

But it isn’t just the South. Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Google all exist because after WWII white men were given a giant welfare handout in the form if FHA loans, and a federal highway system to create the suburbs.

That wealth in the form of equity is what paid for Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to go to college, to fund startups. A fucking trillion dollar headstart that was denied an entire class of people for twenty years from 1945–1965.

My father risked his life to go fight Hitler before he could vote without being lynched, and when he got home his GI Bill benefits were subject to the same restrictions as everything else in society. He was held at the starting line for twenty years while white folks raced towards the 21st century.

Spare me the despair, pain, and suffering of a people who screwed themselves; who benefited from the depressed wages & opportunities of an entire race for centuries to maintain their supremacy, only to still mess it up.

Fuck Donald Trump, and anyone who votes for him.
