CSS Sucks
Shaun Bent

I couldn’t agree more Shaun. It’s something I find deeply concerning that the JS in CSS solutions are gaining so much attention right now.
I probably see it more than most CSS devs because I spend the vast majority of my time now writing React applications and I have experimented with these new approaches and I’m not sold either.

Since switching to an ITCSS architecture with a BEM(IT) naming convention neither myself nor any of the teams I have worked with have had to deal with the kind of issues these CSS in JS solutions claim to solve.

This approach seems to stem from an influx of front-end developers that don’t really get CSS. They might be superb JavaScript developers but the role of a front-end dev consists of far more. I find the lack of CSS skills and also accessibility knowledge quite concerning of late.
