The idea of theme-oriented roadmaps is not new. Dean Leffingwell popularized them about a decade ago. My introduction to them came in a seminar on agile requirements I attended years ago here in Austin. Erik Huddleston, a fan of Leffingwell at the time, presented on the advantages of theme-oriented roadmaps.
My product roadmaps adapt Roman Pichler’s GO Product Roadmap template. He uses the term “goal”; I’ve replaced it with “theme”.
