I am an old non-fiction writer, a new fiction writer and very new to Medium and frankly, I have been a little lost. Your story was just what I needed, when I needed it. I was about to delete several stories because I felt no one was interested. I may hang in there for awhile longer, thanks to you. I never recommend writers I have not read and I do when I admire something in their work. I have rather narrow tastes (do not like to read s/f, fantasy, and many other types of genre fiction — I enjoy stories grounded in the possible and the probable. The human condition is a rich quarry to mine, and at my age, I don’t want to spend time wandering around the future or listening to anthropomorphic animals — but some of the stories I have read here have made me reconsider (a little) and I let the writer know. I have posted dbl spaced poetry for the very reason you mention — could not figure out how to fix it. Medium is not easy to use for tech-challenged seniors, like me! I have been looking for some kind of help, and your story has some of the most useful advice I have come across. Now if you could point me to the “help
