Report Fellowship — Second Time

Knowing India Technology

Thanks to the Mitigation Plan for LAC Developed by ICANN’s Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean — Rodrigo de la Parra. I was selected by Janice Douma Lange from the Fellowship program alumni; To attend for the second time at ICANN57 meeting (3–7 Nov 2016) — India, Hyderabad.

Mentor: This time my good friend Albert Daniels - Stakeholder Engagement Sr Manager -The Caribbean ICANN, who has been an excellent support during the meeting to focus on the key aspects of my participation during the meeting, especially regarding issues related to the area Such as DNSSEC and Ipv6. In addition to the cross-cutting themes of the meeting, I am very grateful for your valuable guide.

Hyderabad arrival

Although I could not go to explore the Historic part of the City, I was very impressed by the modernization of the city even though it is a city that is gradually being positioned as the technological capital of India Where Companies of Importance as Uber, Amazon, Microsoft, Google among others have an impressive since I+D.

In addition to being a site where high connectivity either through the 4G network or through high speed connections make it an attractive venue for thousands of Startups from India.

Visa Process

After several trips to another city to be able to process my visa to attend the meeting, I understood that in India it is easier to go sightseeing, than to apply for a conference visa which in the end I could obtain after a huge amount of paperwork.

Day 1

Community On-Boarding Pilot Program

The Team participants

ICANN has created this program recently, just before meeting #56 in Helsinki June 2016. This program aims to create Welcome Kits to provide newcomers with the needed information to join different kind of constituencies.

Thank you a siranush vardanyan who allowed me to participate as an Observer during the work session to better understand the work done by the members of the group, which has given me interesting ideas to propose to LACRALO members to create suitable material for new members.

Day 2

DNSSEC Technical Workshop for Beginners

My participation in the workshop allowed me to take into account the necessary aspects that I must consider in order to improve the proposal. I am working with the President of LACRALO — Humberto Carrasco (With whom I had a couple of working sessions during the event ICANN57) to present an improved proposal for the project that he presents for consideration and which already Is approved through FY17 Additional Budget Requests.

The Capacity Building Project Named:

FY17–13-LACRALO-Capacity Building workshop on DNSSEC, IPv6 technical community for the academic network reaccium

Will be held next year thanks to ICANN’s support.

Day 3

Open Session

Ceo ICANN

After all the changes initiated during the ICANN56 meeting in Helsinki I was able to observe a significant change in the dynamics of the ICANN meetings, which makes the dynamics of each meeting have a different weighting which I like, which compared with My first experience in a face-to-face meeting changes are good and I hope they continue to implement gradual improvements.

The India Digital program

Then listen to the technology minister especially the plans that the government is beginning to implement its strategy aimed at engaging in the digital empowerment of its citizens and the implementation of a massive program of installation of high speed connectivity at low prices.

I wish they had presented it in detail to the entire ICANN community and not just to the GAC

LAC Space

During the session of LACRALO

Rodrigo De La Parra — VP, Stakeholder Engagement-Latin America Caribbean.

I speak of ICANN’s Commitment to Support the LAC Region through the Mitigation Plan and present results to those who participated in the session on immediate plans and future prospects; In addition to focusing on the need for LACRALO to grow and strengthen its current and future members.

As part of my activities related to the project fy-17 I had two working sessions with Rodrigo de La Parra to clarify the necessary points for scheduling the capacity building event in the area of DNSSEC and Ipv6 where also the participation of ALAC and NPOC of which we are also part.

Day 4

The Not-for-Profit Operational Concerns Constituency (NPOC) is the home for Not-for-Profit organizations like NGOs, wishing to have a voice in internet governance.

GNSO NPOC Community Outreach Event

By participating as an observer in npoc activities, I have been encouraged to come up with a similar session to guide non-profit civil society as I can use dnssec as a good practice to protect your privacy and confidence in online activities for Be a working session in the workshop that I will implement on DNSSEC and Ipv6.

Thanks Martín Pablo Silva Valent, Vice-Chair, NPOC

Day 6

Day 7

ICANN booth

Team

In this meeting I was able to meet many fellow fellows of ICANN53 and many other friends who in my opinion did an excellent job giving dynamism and life to both space.

NextGen Fellows

My special recognition for NextGen program members who are mostly enterprising, they with their great enthusiasm and willingness to share made a big difference.

In the future the NextGen program should focus on targeting the both as the meeting space par excellence of entrepreneurs.
