Mumbai: The Dream City

Mumbai, the city of dreams, never disappoints. Whether it is the glamorous Bollywood industry or the countless dreams it harbours in its broad horizons, it is always up and willing to help everyone. There are many things that are intrinsic to this city when it comes to its style and ways of greeting people.

For those who are not yet aware of its charms and have to still experience it to understand it in its full glory, it’ll help to read up a little on what to do when I’m Bombay. After all, it can never hurt to know about the top five things this city has to offer.

1. Vada pao

This is always going to top my list. Not just because it is a food item, but also because it is vada pao. Synonymous to Mumbai, its proud delicacy vada pao has worn the hearts of millions. When in the city, please do not forget to try a plate of this beautifully delicious food item from the nearest street vendor. They’re all excellent at what they do. Trust me, there are no favourites.

2. Gateway of India

Like every overenthusiastic tourist in Mumbai, one cannot possibly skip the late night tour to the Gateway of India. Majestic and grand in appearance, it towers over the Taj hotel, across the road. Both are a sight to behold.

3. Malls

This city has perhaps one of the best malls in the country and even the shopping places in Mumbai have become a tourist spot. This is mainly because malls like Rcity have come up with new and innovative means of entertainment well within the malls, thus making it fun and interesting for people coming from other places.

4. Film city

The integrated film studio complex situated near Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a cause of great excitement for Bollywood lovers. Travelling from all over the country, they come to take in the glamour of this much talked about industry. The houses of various stars also add to the enigmatic charm of this city.

5. Chhatrapati Shivani Maharaj Terminus

Formerly known as Victoria Terminus, this historic railway station is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is beautifully lit at night and definitely deserves a tour only for its beauty.

It is time to explore Mumbai in the perfect tourist way. Before one can become acquainted to her real demeanour, we must soak in the experiences she has to offer to her fellow tourists.
