What’s RCN?

RCN is a global credit protocol based on smart contracts and blockchain technology enabling connections between lenders and borrowers located anywhere in the world, regardless of currency.

Why RCN?

RCN enhances transparency and reliability in credit and lending. The network aims to scale down traditional credit lending selectiveness and inherent bureaucracy and -at the same time- build up the solutions provided by most peer-to-peer lending platforms by diversifying the lender’s portfolio, mitigating default risks and magnifying its potential.

The Ripio Credit Network explained

Who’s behind RCN?

The RCN project is backed by the Latin American crypto company Ripio (formerly BitPagos), which has been described as one of the most promising Blockchain startups in the region and has been promoting access to digital economy during the last four years.

In 2016, Ripio launched a revolutionary local credit service called Ripio Credit at TechCrunch Disrupt, which was the seed that would later become the RCN project.

Ripio means “gravel” in Spanish. Just like gravel serves as a foundation for new roadways, Ripio aims to build new roads throughout the digital economy. New roads create new possibilities, and they are the key to widening access towards financial inclusion for everyone.

Ripio founder and CEO Sebastian Serrano states that the company’s main objective is to democratize the digital economy in Latin America, offering digital payment alternatives within everyone’s reach in a region where 65% remain unbanked.

Serrano announcing RCN at the d10e blockchain conference (Kiev), where they won the ICO Battlefield competition.
