Good piece, Douglas. I love the term “consensual hallucination.” So much of what we do and believe these days is predicated on “net paper,” all the news laid before us, including our own news and everyone else’s news, pictorials of our happiness and lost dogs. Social media is our emotional global village, and I’m sure the time will come when our dying words will be “Is this going on the web?” We’re hallucinating, all right. As a child of the 60s, I remember acid trips being something that had a good start and a lousy finish. That may be life as we know it. Thanks for posting.

I did a poor imitation of Don Draper for 40 years before writing my first novel. I'm currently in the final stages of a children's book. Lucky me.
