Settling Sue, Settling Sue
Settled and settled her whole life through
Never complained, never meddled
All she did was settle, settle, settle
She settled for sweaters she knew didn’t fit
She settled for shoes that wore out and split
She never got angry or took things back
She settled for a dog instead of a cat
Settling Sue couldn’t explain
Why she settled again and again
She passed each day with hardly a word
Crying over things that never occurred
The years came and went and Sue kept settling
Never complaining, never meddling
The kids grew up and settled, too
That’s just how it was for Settling Sue
When Sue grew old, it was just the same
Even her grandkids had settled-on names
She settled and settled and settled some more
Never complaining or asking, “What for?”
