Positivity Day #3
On Vacation all Night
I have never been one for insomnia. In fact, I have been accused of quite the opposite: Falling asleep anywhere and at anytime, including a host of inappropriate locations such as movie theaters, the couch at a party, in the car while running an errand, one time while hiking (seriously, while I was walking). My husband complains that I am always tired. It typically leads to an argument, followed immediately by a nap.
So, I decided that my 3rd positive action would be to improve my sleeping habits. My goal was to get what I need each night and so I didn’t need to re-up during the day at questionable times. A bit of research led me to the advice of sleeping with a eye mask. This conjured up images of a blond, buxom bunny, lying around in bed with a pink satin robe and a matching eye mask. Not my style. But I did remember that a few years back a friend gave me one as a bon voyage gift that read, in Japanese, “On Vacation.”
Well, being on vacation all night doesn’t sound to bad. I put the mask on and waited for something to happen. First, I wasn’t assaulted by the glow of my neighbors TV or the big bright moon. That was good. But the real benefit came when I noticed that the whirl of my brain slowed down a bit. Being behind the “on vacation” mask was actually a lot like being on vacation; specifically that moment when you finally let go and start relaxing. So, for the rest of the 10 Days of Positivity (and perhaps beyond), I will be on vacation 8 hours a day.
