Thank you, Robin. I never thought of myself as racist, but now I see that I still thought of people of color as “other.” Not consciously or intentionally, just fearfully and ignorantly. Black Lives Matter helped me see my kind of racism and how destructive it is. The old worn and trite, “if you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem,” means a great deal more to me now. I’m sorry that I didn’t see my own white privilege sooner, and I endeavor to “see differently” every day I’m still on this planet.
