Thank you for sharing. I could relate to your need to question the conventions of the workplace.
One question though, you describe socializing the concept to get some buy-in. What if during the consultation the feedback is that the change being pursued is a poor one? What’s the next course of action? Pursue more consultation, go ahead despite the negative feedback to document the potential benefits of the break from convention, or wait to act on one’s instinct for needed change?
I know from experience that pursuing what one feels is the correct path is not always appreciated by those who believe in the conventions. But it also leads to better job self-satisfaction.
