Rampant Gundaraaj In Punjab

RECENTLY, a famous gangster from Punjab, Jaswinder Singh alias Rocky, was murdered in broad daylight on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway, allegedly by one of his rival gangster. But what followed was even more shocking, as many gangster from the area claimed credit for the murder on Facebook. Many of these gangsters even have their own page which is followed by a large crowd.

The most obvious questions that arises is, what is the police doing? But it seems that the various gangs that operate in Punjab have high influence in many political circles and the police cannot do anything substantial against them.

To their credit, they did jail most of the suspects as soon the crime was reported. However, jail seems to have had no effect on the criminals as they have continued their operations from within the prison. The rampant use of smartphones have rendered any counter-operation useless. How the inmates keep getting access to mobile phones has been baffling the police. The gangsters have even posted ‘selfies’ on Facebook from inside jail.

How long can this outrageous Gundaraaj will go on is the question that the authorities and the Punjab government need to answer.
