“It’s been a wonderful experience for me and an opportunity I welcome, to thank you all. I know how many of you are volunteers. And it’s just a few more days, and I’m as nervous as you are tired. So, we’ll sweat it out together. But God bless you all, and thank you.” — Ronald Reagan, Remarks at the National Headquarters of the Reagan-Bush Campaign, October 31, 1984
The Reagan Library’s archives houses over 7300 campaign buttons in our collection, spanning Ronald Reagan’s gubernatorial years, the 1976, 1980 and 1984 presidential campaigns, and beyond. The campaign buttons we see here are a small selection from the John T. Hay Collection of over 7200 pieces of political memorabilia. John Hay was a World War Two Veteran who was a part of the D-Day Invasion, and who was also a personal friend of Ronald Reagan.
