White House Lithograph
“Nancy and I are here in the West Hall of the White House, and around us are the rooms in which we live. It’s the home you’ve provided for us, of which we merely have temporary custody.” — Ronald Reagan, 09/14/86
On November 9, 2000, the White House East Room was the setting for a formal dinner in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the White House as the home and office of the president.
For the 200th anniversary, President and Mrs. Clinton were joined by special guests Lady Bird Johnson, President and Mrs. Gerald Ford, President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter and President and Mrs. George H.W. Bush to honor the house and reflect on their contributions to its history.
Each of those presidents and first ladies then signed this lithograph color print of the White House by Jamie Wyeth. 30 were signed. The White House Historical Association gifted this print to the Reagan Library in 2001. It is marked 3 of 30.
