Turn your favorite fragrance into a long-lasting, moisturizing scented lotion that will accompany you wherever you go.

Not everyone is lucky enough to find a scented lotion that matches with their favorite scent. Then, not every fragrance comes with a body lotion to match. So, when you want to keep your skin silky smooth and also extend the life of your scent, knowing how to turn your favorite perfume into a body lotion is a valuable skill.

What You’ll Need

You don’t need much to make a lotion with your favorite fragrance. With just a couple of ingredients and props, you can set up your scented lotion making lab at home. Before you start, make sure you have these items at home:

  • Fragrance-free lotion base
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Your favorite fragrance
  • Lotion bottle
  • Small funnel
  • Whisk

Scented Lotion DIY Step-by-Step Guide

Once you’ve gathered your materials, you can set up your station to prepare your scented lotion. As a tip, we recommend you set up paper on your working area to prevent any spills from damaging the working surface.

Step 1 — Pour about 1/3 cup of the unscented lotion into your small mixing bowl.

Step 2 — Add about five to eight sprays of perfume into the lotion base. Add more if you want a stronger scented lotion. Stir these two ingredients using the whisk until well combined.

Step 3 — Test the lotion on a pulse point — wrist or neck — to make sure you like the fragrance strength. Add more if you feel as though it needs more.

Step 4 — Using the funnel, pour the scented lotion mix into your lotion bottle. Ideally, you want to use small lotion bottles to keep them fresh.

Extra Tip: Keep your scented lotion stored in a cool and dry place, far away from direct sunlight.

Must-Have Scented Lotions

If making your own body lotion from scratch seems like a lot of work, you don’t have to give up. Luckily for you, many perfume houses roll out scented lotions featuring their best-selling fragrances. These are some of the must-have creams, in our humble opinion.

Sofia by Sofia Vergara — If you want to experience a cocktail of delicious fruits, try this scented lotion. You get blackberries, toasted praline, and plums. The best part? This is a shimmering body lotion so you can shine all day long, while you exude fruit-floral notes of pure richness.

Berry Blossom by Eos — Although, there is no perfume to match this scent, this fragrant lotion is delicious. You get buttery body lotion, with delicate berry blossom notes that don’t feel sticky or oily to the touch. Stay silky smooth with this long-lasting moisture lotion.

Can Can by Paris Hilton — Anyone that has experienced the Can Can fragrance before knows it’s a provocative, fun, and flirty perfume. Well, the body lotion is similar but in a more subtle way. Perfect for extending that glamorous feeling you get when you try the Paris Hilton fragrance line.

Last-Minute Tips & Warnings

Before we say goodbye, there are some things to consider when you’re planning on making your own scented lotions based on your favorite fragrances.

#1 — Make sure you’re using an unscented lotion base. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a fragrance blend that’s not necessarily equal to your favorite perfume.

#2 — Always test your perfume on your skin before adding it to the lotion, this way you’re sure you enjoy the scent.

#3 — Only use high-quality perfumes or essentials oils to blend with your fragrance-free lotion.

#4 — If you’re sensitive to chemicals and fragrances, check for hypoallergenic scents and lotions.
