Deliver Us From Assholes

We all have at least one person who insists on remaining in our lives despite every protest we throw their direction.

Mine likes to insinuate themselves into my existence using lots of “I” statements. “I would love,” “I really need,” “I can’t wait.”

At no point do they ask what I want. My needs are irrelevant.

I ignore them as best I can. I can put them off for months at a time, and when they finally guilt me into personal contact it ends up costing me money, but worst of all, it costs me precious time I’d rather spend with people who care about me instead of their own ego.

Truth is, we can’t always escape these people. It sounds so easy from a distance but reality intrudes.

I wish you luck with yours. I can’t quite escape yet. Maybe one day.
