The Realms of Ethernity (RoE) world is as diverse as its extensiveness, with interlaced rivers and lakes, arid deserts, sprawling forests, and complex dungeons that are connected seamlessly.

To showcase the expansive universe that RoE takes place in, we’ll spend the coming months touring the major regions found across its four magical continents.

Our journey will start in the northern part of the fertile, emerald Lake Lands. Get ready to learn more about the lore and history of the region, infused with the geographic specifications, biodiversity, and civilizations that capture the essence of the wondrous realms.

This is also the focused area where the first season of RoE will happen.

The Lake Lands consist of a collection of rivers and lakes, forming many of the largest and most fertile plains on the entire continent. Though predominantly notable for its fertile lands — home to various species of animals, flora and fauna, the continent is also comprised of lush forest lands. Four distinct ecosystems can be found here, including Mangroves, Deltas, Primary Forests, and Mountains.

Located in the northern part of the Lake Lands, the Ease Plain is bordered by the Lazy Sea and part of the Guardian Mountains.

The Ease Plain — Delta Region

Belonging to one of the four diverse ecosystems, the Ease Plain is a fertile territory that features expansive plains and deltas, teeming with herbaceous plants, shrubs, and fruit trees. Favorable geographical and weather conditions make it an ideal habitat for friendly, massive herbivores living in packs. Their predators, though small in size, have learned to hunt in groups to counterbalance the great strength and size of their enemies. Some creatures with hulking forms have developed the ability to hide or camouflage themselves to ambush their prey.

Other indigenous species like Jumper gerbils are small but can be deadly when they gather and hunt together. Giant Rock Toads often disguise themselves as large rocks scattering in the fields, waiting to pounce upon their innocent prey. Flocks of Shield Head, notable for their shield-like horns, are benign herbivores, although they will not hesitate to attack if individuals in the pack are in danger. Large Tortoises, known for their remarkably long lifespan, are generally harmless and slow.

The Mangroves Forests Region

Part of the northern region bordering the central area teems with a vast array of rivers, lakes, and mangrove forests, making for a constantly changing ecosystem and numerous unique species.

Land jellyfishes can only be found in the mangroves adjacent to the sea. Drifting into the currents, this peculiar type of jellyfish has gradually adapted to being able to live on land and in water, using powerful tentacles as their main hunting tool. Lake Lurker is another notorious resident of the mangroves. True to their name, they are predators that mainly appear around extensive lakes. They hunt by burying themselves in muddy areas near the shore, waiting to attack species that appear in the vicinity. Land Sharks are giant, aggressive predators found near treacherous rivers. Having a powerful physique enables them to effortlessly dig through obstacles and build underground tunnels. Once a target is identified, they swiftly leap from the ground, using their razor-sharp teeth to crush and finish off the prey on the spot.

The Mountain Plains Region

Lying adjacent to the Guardian Mountains, which once blocked the inordinately large and destructive explosion from the Battle of Divisius, the area enjoys a hybrid ecosystem with a harmonious climate and abundant rainfall all year round. Favorable environments are formed for many creatures to thrive, including humans. The most prominent settlement is a human village situated in Crystal Lake, home to a small floating island split from the massive explosion.

One of the most infamous residents of the plain is Carnisar, a great warrior clan consisting of dogs, hyenas, and wolves. They were not native inhabitants, but merely a mercenary force used by the Orcs during the First Lake Lands War. After the Imperium’s victory, the Orcs retreated to Rokuul, while many Carnisars remained, working as looters or mercenaries for other tribes. Several other Carnisars continued to migrate and are now scattered throughout many parts of the continent.

Floating Islands

The artwork is for illustrative purposes only.

The floating island is a typical topography in Realms of Ethernity. Most of the floating islands in the world were formed after the Battle of Divisius when the Roots of the Dolhm tried to lift the City of Divisius up to the sky, but for some reason he lifted the entire Dahmian kingdom up and cracked the continent, forming the present Divided Sea.

Small floating islands dot the northern part of the Lake Lands, with distinct ecosystems that are not available anywhere else. The flora found on these islands has a different evolutionary trend than that of those underground. They are wider and shorter to adapt to strong winds. They also have strong roots and few leaves. The fauna is mostly creatures with wings, but those creatures that are sensitive to magic also gather on these islands to absorb magic from the crystals, making this place fraught with risks for Adventures.

Next on our journey, we’ll learn about the four different races whose profound influence has shaped the history and culture of the fertile northern part of Lake Lands. They are Surfang Humans, Mountains Kin, Imperium, and Orcs.
