Batman’s voice actor in video games and animation, Kevin Conroy, passes away at age 66.
Conroy became well-known as the Caped Crusader in “Batman: The Animated Series” thanks to his distinctive, raspy voice.

According to a statement from his publicist, Conroy’s deep, raspy voice propelled him to popularity as the lead in “Batman: The Animated Series,” which ran from 1992 to 1996.
In approximately 60 different projects and video games, including 15 movies, including the standout “Batman: Mask of the Phantasm,” he became the undisputed voice of the superhero.
The studio released a statement saying, “Warner Bros. Animation is heartbroken by the loss of our great friend Kevin Conroy.” “Among the best depictions of the Dark Knight in any medium, his iconic portrayal of Batman will always rank high. We join admirers throughout the world in paying tribute to his legacy and sending our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.”
Outside of his professional life, he was regarded for being a kind and compassionate spirit despite portraying a tough hero on both little and large screens. Conroy was a regular on the convention circuit, where he treated his legion of followers with the same respect, passion, and gratitude that they did for him.
He and Andrea Romano, an Emmy-winning director of dialogue and casting, have been friends for many years.
In a statement announcing his passing, Romano stated of Kevin, “Kevin was far more than an actor whom I had the pleasure of casting and directing — he was a good friend for 30+ years whose compassion and generous nature had no boundaries.” “I will always remember Kevin’s kind heart, beautifully deep laugh, and genuine love of life.”
Conroy was described as “perfection” by Mark Hamill, who frequently played the Joker opposite Conroy’s Batman in various projects.
He was one of Hamill’s favorite individuals on the earth, and he was his brother to him. He showed genuine concern for others around him, and his actions were always honorable. My spirits were raised each time I saw or chatted with him.
Kevin was a fantastic actor, said Hamill. He has been the Batman for a number of generations. One of those ideal situations where the world was improved because the perfect person was chosen for the perfect job. His pacing, nuances, tones, and delivery all had an impact on how I performed. He was the perfect companion; it was such a creative, complimentary experience.”

Conroy was reared in Westport, Connecticut after being born on November 30, 1955, in Westbury, New York. Alongside renowned performers like Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams, he attended the famed Juilliard School in New York City to further his acting education.
In New York and at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, he gave theatrical performances. Conroy’s performances in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Public Theater, “Eastern Standard” on Broadway, and the title role of Hamlet at the 1984 New York Shakespeare Festival all garnered positive reviews from critics.
Conroy also appeared in supporting roles on well-known TV shows like “Cheers,” “Murphy Brown,” and “Matlock.”
Trisha Conroy, Tom Conroy, and Conroy’s husband, Vaughn C. Williams, are Conroy’s surviving family members. There will be funeral services.
