Hi Ryan. As somebody who has been in male-dominated career fields her entire life, I “get” the gender gap. I appreciate you making an effort to outreach to women like myself. React rocks.
But how is discounting a React course being more inclusive toward women? Unfortunately, this effort comes across as a marketing ploy rather than a genuine effort to encourage women in tech. Have you ever heard of nursing schools offering discounted tuition to men or a cash bonus for male elementary school teachers? Of course not. It’s condescending.
Especially after the recent Google Memo kerfuffle, maybe we should focus on making the work place more inviting to women by giving us the working conditions we prefer instead of just giving out discounts.
