Think Before Your Refrigerating These Foods

Usually the product that is bought from the supermarket has a label on the packaging. That label has all the detailed information about the ingredients, its quantities, expiry date and above all storage condition. There are times when we actually ignore that part and put everything in your fridge because it is a common view point that fridge keeps the edible things fresh. However if you think like this then you are sadly mistakenly because some foods are actually not meant to be refrigerate. There are many products that do not have a label and many women think that it is better to refrigerate the product since no instructions are mentioned. Such food which does not bear a label includes:
· Bread
· Oil
· Honey
· Coffee
· Onions
These are some of the commonly used kitchen items that usually do not have any label. So our mothers prefer refrigerating these items in order to keep them fresh. By doing so our mothers are forgetting that extreme cold temperature can alter the taste and aroma of the foods mentioned above.
Foods That Should Not Be Refrigerated
Bread

The basic ingredient in the making of the bread is yeast which is basically prepared from bacteria. If you refrigerate it then the staling process will be much quicker and bread will lose all the moisture and taste.
Honey

Honey has no expiry date nor it deteriorates but when you refrigerate it the crystallization process occurs. This process induces certain changes in the taste, color and even aroma of the honey thus making it too hard to be eaten.
Coffee

Coffee should always be placed at room temperature and away from all the foods that have strong aroma. If you are keeping it in your fridge then coffee will absorb even the slightest aroma coming from any other food that is placed along with the coffee. Always keep the coffee in an air tight jar or bottle to prevent the taste.
Oils

Cooking oil, olive oil or coconut oil should never be placed in the fridge. Oil should always be kept at room temperature no matter what the room temperature is but always store the oil at this temperature.
Onions

Do you like to eat mushy onions? If no then never place the onions in the fridge because onions usually absorb the moisture and becomes soggy thus making it difficult to cut.
Potatoes

Potatoes are loaded with starch content which breaks down in cold temperatures, so whenever you place the potatoes in the fridge they will change their colors and will become more gritty and sweet. The aroma and taste will also change and you will hate it. Always store the potatoes in a bag and avoid freezing it to restore the natural taste and aroma.
Fridge is not the right place for storing most of the vegetables and other edible things. So always read the label before storing the items and in case the label is not there simply do not put the stuff in the refrigerator. Visit the following link for more useful tips about food and health.
