Berners have gotten SO much mileage out of that 4 month old poll. Every man Jack of you (and you are mostly, though not all, men) bring it up at some point in order to inform those who know who and what Bernie Sanders actually is that we are only 8% of the party. It’s sort of the Berner version of Godwin’s law because the poll is in no way a valid measure of the attitude of members of the Democratic Party towards Bernie Sanders. 1) it was not intended to measure that in the first place. It was one question thrown into a far more general poll, that listed an apparently random list of politics associated names, and asked respondents whether they approved of the individual or not. Many respondents did not even recognize a number of the names on the list. 2) The number of self-identified Democrats included in the poll was small, relative to the number of Republicans, and there were a number of other flaws that, all told, add up to the fact that the headline is what most Berners have read or understood, not the methodology. Which makes sense considering that Berners were screaming about online, self selected polls being just as valid as scientifically designed polls a little over a year ago.
Hillary Clinton’s approval ratings were higher than that when she left the State Department. She is the most thoroughly vetted candidate of all time. Bernie is the least. His approval ratings may be high now, because he has high name recognition, and he has never been put in the position of having to make good on any of his promises. However, his approval in VT, though still quite good at 75%, is down from 89% in November, 2016. So there’s that. The Grand Jury is still out on Jane’s “inaccurate” loan application on behalf of Burlington College. We’ll see what his approval looks like if she’s indicted.
If you don’t know what Man Bun Ken means, you should google it, Bernie Boy.
