EMERGE \ WEEK 1
Emerge has begun! And I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited for it!
Over the past week I’ve been brainstorming and hoping to be able to bring some examples to class on Tuesday to lay down a design for the magazine website. I discussed this with my group but I do think we should try to follow some web design trends in the upcoming year. I found an article on the seven up and coming trends in the web design world.
Responsive is number one of course, which is a given in today’s web design world.
Ghost Buttons is another big one. It just adds a beautiful and simpler look to an overall design and easy to click on the picture or wherever it is implemented.
My two favourite that I think should be implemented is large photos and typography. Like the saying goes — a picture tells a thousand words. I love the look of a large, blown up photo on the start of the page to attract the reader.
Also, as someone who LOVES different typefaces, I think typography is a massive factor into the overall design of a website and making it attract readers. It will also allow graphic designers to have some fun with type.
I’ve compiled some examples of websites I like the overall design of.
- It is a tad cluttered and could use a simpler layout but I do like how they have a large picture at the beginning and all the categories shown on the top right
- Love the layout and how it is a large photo to navigate through using the arrows on the side
- Idea: if the checkmark came out and there were icons to different categories of the website
- Simple, clean, easy
- Love this one — I think this is the best one out of all of them and it is a good starting point for what we want the Emerge Magazine website to look like
Looking forward to getting started!
