You are giving up on your life without realizing

A story of a person who reached his limit-

It’s Monday morning and time to begin your week. You stumble out of bed in an effort to begin your daily routine and ever so lifelessly jump into the shower to cleanse yourself. You throw your best clothes on to make a good impression. You spend many minutes relentlessly staring in that mirror in an effort to perfect what is lacking. You make your way to the kitchen looking for the best foods to fill that empty stomach. Last but not least, you do not forget to spare time for that little television box that gives you a few minutes of freedom. In an amid rush, you make your way to the door and enter the car. And FREEZE…

In contemplation, finally, you ask yourself “What am I doing this for?”

  • “Why do I wake up to do something every day that doesn’t fulfill me?”
  • “How can I wear my best clothes to a place I simply do not like?”
  • “By perfecting my imperfections, am I just hating myself my true-self?”
  • “Is it that by choosing such foods I’m not actually filling my stomach, but an empty void instead?”
  • “When did my reality become too realistically lifeless that the television screen became a way out?”
  • Lastly “WHEN DID I LOSE CONTROL OF MY LIFE?”

What is it all for? Studies show that 1 in 4 employees of UK citizens feel unhappy at work (2018 Reference- https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/uk-employees-job-search-2018-look-new-company-workplace-happiness-career-a8133351.html)

  • From our clothes to our food, our routine to our thoughts, our decisions to our work, we are automatically compelled to live our life’s as just comfortable. Because “that is what we deserve, to be comfortable”.

While to be comfortable and live comfortable sounds great, but in the long run, you give up on yourself. Here’s what happens:

  • You deprive yourself of any extracurricular matter or opportunity in order to save yourself from failure.
  • You surround yourself with company and environment where knowing less is more resulting in knowledge without source.
  • You hold back any opinion or form of self-expression so you are not viewed as an outcast or arrogant.

While not seizing an opportunity, being in encouraging surroundings, or letting yourself have a voice, YOU, are not controlling your world, but systematically the world is controlling you.

Why does this happen?

In our society, all too often, we are taught to get an education, a job, a mortgage and a family. More specifically, the idea to focus yourself on one given job and do it well is enough to be satisfied. But, wait a second… “A job?”

A job sounds dull if you ask me. A job requires me to accomplish another’s needs rather than our own, like manual labour, you could say we are anonymously slaves of our own.

Isn’t there more to life than this fate?

-When did you tell yourself that taking a job to receive a wage is enough?

-When did you learn to survive Monday to Friday, rather than live?

  • From my perspective, if you spend 80% of every week miserable, then roughly around 260 days of the year you are nothing more than a working robot. To live comfortably is to live safe, and to live safe there is no room for nurturing. To me, that is society’s way of killing your soul. I lived this way for a long time. I didn’t believe my voice was worth being heard, so I hid among the crowd until the day came and I finally had enough and realized I could be something more. I wanted to thrive on many skills, have intense and deep conversations, along with that I fill myself with positive surroundings. Lastly, I wanted to accomplish my own goals, and that I did. I regained control.

Although this being said and sounding convincing, we cannot ignore the fact that living comfortably is fairly addictive and brainwashing.

The company you choose to spend your precious time with should be considered thoroughly as a contributing factor to the decisions we make, and who we become as a person. Naturally, the more time you spend with someone, you mirror their actions, whether good or bad, it is inevitable. As food for thought, this feeds you every day, however, you need to decide whether this food is good for you, or bad.

So this raises a new topic, which I’ll dedicate a whole blog to. Next week, I will publish “How do we influence negativity to one another?” and will question on the choices we make from the company we are in and how to become wiser in our choices.

  • What are your thoughts?
  • How can we overcome them?
  • What inspires you to live every day?

Thank you for reading. You have made my day. :)
