‘How’d you do it?’
I did it, simply put.
‘How’d you do it?’ — I realized that I had nothing to prove to anyone except myself.
‘How’d you do it?’ — By finally realizing that I was working very hard and putting a lot of energy into fulfilling other people’s expectations — expectations of good grades, professional paths to success, familial dreams, unfulfilled desires. None of it was actually mine.
‘How’d you do it?’ — I cried, a lot. But then I walked away from everything that wasn’t done for myself. Walked away from school, from my apartment…I even walked away from my cat and my piano.
‘How’d you do it?’ — I realized that my financial priorities were different than others. Rather than have that nice house by the water, or that nice car, or that expensive computer, or that week spent in a 5* hotel-spa, I wanted to travel.
‘How’d you do it?’ — I stopped thinking and I jumped.
‘How’d you do it?’ — Other people’s voices were no longer polluting my mind. I heard my own innermost thoughts most clearly. They told me to tune everything out and jump.
‘How’d you do it?’ — I jumped.
