Very little is truly urgent. Many people create their own fire drills, or impose unnecessary tight deadlines where they are not needed. Or as an old boss of mine used to say “Your lack of planning does not constitute my emergency”. Learning not to automatically “react” when someone comes in with that “ASAP!” request, and ask a few calm and considered questions helps alleviate much stress and avoid spending time on not as important tasks just because they are presented to you by someone who might have no discernment on what is actually important or not.
