A year of milestones

shrinking family, new beginnings …

Rohan leaves for college and has an incredible his first semester at CMU! Trisha learn to ride a horse and starts 5th grade at Stratford. Twins loved their Stanford dorm experience this summer, start an academically challenging 10th grade but finish extremely well! Gaurav gets to Semi-finals in a Speech competition, both did well as debate partners too. Anuj discovers his passion for liberal arts — Behavioral Economics, Reasoning and Arguments as well as Psychology!

On a professional front, I spent the year successfully growing Coursera as their Head of Talent, while Subir continued to write his book. Towards the end of this year, I decided to get back into executive search, and together with Subir, co-founded Catapulse Partners!

This summer Subir and I visited Bali for the first time, and experiencing another part of the world with Hindu beliefs! Kids spent time in Singapore with their cousins. We had a Narayan family reunion in Udaipur, India, followed by a week at parents’ home in Jaipur.

This was the first time we saw our kids really enjoy India. Perhaps it had something to do with spending time with extended family, staying at beautiful hotels, eating amazing food and doing a lot of sight seeing of palaces and temples! The best meal we had was at Bukhara, one of the world’s finest Indian restaurants in Delhi.

Our year ended well, with Rohan coming home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, our annual trip to Tahoe & Rohan’s 19th birthday celebrations. I am grateful for this special year we had as a family and I hope it continues into 2014!
