What AI thinks about the metaverse

We depart on a red-eye flight in the night, across uncertain darkness and arrive in the morning, greeted by the blinding sun.

LIVE. SEE. DREAM. TO THE METAVERSE AND BACK.

The metaverse is something that we at RED-EYE are really interested in, so that we decided to dive in to what AI thinks about the metaverse, NFTs and Web3 because we are actually at the edge of this now, and no humans know what the metaverse is (except for Cathy Hackl, who is the Godmother of the Metaverse and one of the best Web3 speakers).

The term metaverse is composed of the prefix meta (meaning outward) and stem verse (a backformation from universe); the term is commonly used to describe a future iteration of the Internet consisting of persistent, shared, three-dimensional virtual spaces connected in an imagined virtual universe, in which each person could exist as digital avatars, interacting with each other as well as with the universe around them.

A metaverse is a conjunction of several elements of technology, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and video, in which users live in a digital universe. In a metaverse, users navigate virtual worlds which simulate aspects of the physical world using technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), social media, and digital currencies. In some ways, anyone with a computer or a smart phone can access the experience of a metaverse, like the digital world Second Life.

The virtual world of New York Times best-selling Ready Player One is perhaps the best example of what a metaverse could look like.

Whether it is virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), or just a screen, the promise of a metaverse is the possibility of greater overlapping between our digital and physical lives, whether it is wealth, socialization, productivity, shopping, and recreation. For instance, individuals are already working on selling parcels of virtual land in the metaverse.

The metaverses aim is to give individuals augmented reality experiences that, in many ways, can exceed physical reality in terms of experiences and opportunities. Cyber babies are likely to become commonplace over the next half-century.

According to technologists, the metaverse will bring VR experiences to a new level, allowing users to fly around a virtual world, doing everything from buying land and hosting parties, and even getting married via a digital avatar. You may have heard lately about how the metaverse will bring about a new age in digital connectedness, VR experiences, and e-commerce.

The metaverse is collective virtual shared space created through a confluence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual spaces, including the sum total of all virtual worlds, augmented reality, and the Internet. Because many massively multiplayer online games link millions of players sharing features to the metaverse, but provide access to non-persistent instances of virtual worlds shared only by a few dozen players, the concept of multiverse virtual worlds has been used to distinguish them from the Metaverse.

For universality to be a reality, no one company could or should control the metaverse — but the various experiences would have to be compatible, if, say, you wanted to be able to carry around photos taken in one space to another, or to use the same avatar to represent your virtual self in different places. Right now, most platforms have virtual identities, avatars, and inventories tied to just one platform, but the metaverse could let you build an avatar that you can carry with you anywhere, the way you might copy a profile picture from one social network to the next. A metaverse would also incorporate custom avatars and digital assets of your own, that will probably be recorded in a blockchain.

People can interact with the metaverse by using technologies like VR and Augmented Reality (AR). Instead of looking at a screen as you do now, in a metaverse, you would be able to walk around in all of your experiences on the internet, like shopping, meeting friends and family, going to concerts, or even getting your official paperwork done. Advocates for the metaverse envision their users working, playing, playing games, and keeping in touch with friends via everything from concerts, conferences, and virtual trips across the globe.

Shared standards and protocols bringing together different virtual worlds and augmented realities in one, open, metaverse can help people work together and reduce duplicate efforts. Universal interoperability would allow users to exchange goods and services within a metaverse just as quickly as they do hand-to-hand within the physical world.

Long story short the general idea is that a Metaverse would be an ever-expanding virtual world.
