Did you miss the part of history about how women weren’t allowed to vote, own property, and could be raped and beaten with impunity? (And I’m talking developed nations — look at honor killings that are still going on in the Middle East and South Asia. I could go on with examples, but for brevity’s sake, I’ll stop.)

Maybe we have only been allowed to come of age by reaching a number/stage because that is all we were seen as good for (usually related to menstruation, menstruation = making babies). I’m not very old, and my grandmother was forced to quit her job when she got *married.*

I’m not saying the article wasn’t worthwhile, because it was. But your response that women have never been oppressed is absurd.
