We are thrilled to announce that we have launched our Devnet Beta. This is a significant milestone in the Redbelly journey. It brings us immense pleasure to announce this crucial achievement that is a result of many years of research, innovation, and the relentless dedication of our entire team in an effort to innovate and advance the blockchain industry.

The Devnet Beta marks a crucial turning point for Redbelly, as it allows us to invite our valued Community Members to actively participate and test their blockchain projects and decentralised applications (dApps) on Redbelly. This unique opportunity enables our Community to explore, experiment, and contribute their insights and feedback, helping us refine Redbelly Network before our official Mainnet launch.

Redbelly Devnet is a dedicated short-lived testing environment comprising of geographically distributed nodes hosted by Redbelly and its community of Node Operators. It serves as an invaluable platform for developers and enthusiasts to test their blockchain projects and experience the power of blockchain and the Redbelly Devnet Beta platform.

What are we looking to achieve through testing your blockchain projects in Devnet Beta?

The primary purpose of Devnet Beta is to help us identify and address any potential issues, glitches, or vulnerabilities related to stability, performance, and security. Rigorous stress testing and simulations will validate the robustness of our systems, ensuring that the Redbelly Network can handle the demands of real-world blockchain projects.

We will leverage this environment to test key features such as network reconfiguration, optimising the performance of our platform, and enhancing its scalability, responsiveness, and efficiency under varying workloads. Moreover, we value any feedback about problems or issues detected during testing and will continuously monitor our network to strengthen its security.

Our Devnet Programs will run between 31 May 2023 and 31 July 2023, allowing participants a reasonable amount of time to actively contribute to the development and improvement of Redbelly Network.

• Fast & Highly Scalable: Redbelly Network is highly scalable, ensuring lightning-fast transaction processing even during periods of high demand. With Redbelly, users never have to wait for their transactions to complete, providing an exceptional user experience for blockchain projects.
• Near Instant Finality and No Fork Guarantee: Redbelly offers near-instant finality for transactions, providing users with immediate confirmation and eliminating the possibility of forking or rollbacks. Transactions on the Redbelly ecosystem are confirmed within seconds and remain secure and immutable.

Redbelly invites Use-case Testing by Blockchain Projects:

We have the pleasure in inviting our community of developers, early adopters, and other interested parties to deploy their blockchain projects, dApps, or smart contracts on our Devnet Beta for testing purposes.

As a test user on Redbelly Devnet Beta, you will play a vital role in testing the reliability, stability, security, and performance of the network. By actively participating in testing, identifying issues, and providing feedback, you will contribute to the overall quality of Redbelly Network, helping us create a robust and trustworthy platform.

During the Devnet Beta, in addition to inviting users to deploy their blockchain projects, we will also be onboarding Node Operators and Ecosystem Partners for testing and technical due diligence. This collaborative effort allows us to gather diverse perspectives and ensure the network’s resilience and compatibility with various blockchain projects.

How to access Redbelly Network Devnet for testing your Blockchain Project:

This article assumes that you are familiar with deploying smart contracts on an EVM chain. If not please refer here for more information.

Instructions
Add Redbelly Devnet to your wallet
Create an Ethereum address using metamask or with your preferred EVM compatible wallet.

Configure your preferred EVM compatible wallet to connect to the Redbelly DevNet with the following settings:

1. Network name: RedbellyDevNet
2. RPC: https://rbn-gcp-australia-southeast1-a-0-b-v2.devnet.redbelly.network:8545
3. Chain ID: 152
4. Currency symbol: RBNT
5. Block explorer address: https://explorer.devnet.redbelly.network

Access Redbelly Devnet access portal to verify your wallet
To enable your wallet to do transaction the network, you will have to go through a identity verification process (with test credentials for devnet). Until you do that, you won’t be able to do any transaction on the network.

Please follow below steps to complete verification and link credentials to your wallet and enable the account:

1. Go to https://access.devnet.redbelly.network/
2. Connect your wallet
3. You will need to verify your identity (with test credentials mentioned below and on the website) and link it with the wallet
4. You don’t have to use your personal information for Devnet. Please use below test details to verify your identity on Devnet:
   Full name: James G Testeleven
   Passport No.: E55173628
   Date of Birth: 01 01 1960
   Country: Australia
5. To begin identity verification, click the button: “Begin identity verification” and sign the message in your wallet
6. In the form, enter details as mentioned above step by step and submit the form.
7. After submitting the form, give it few seconds and your address will receive devnet credentials and 10 RBNT for enabling account and first few transactions
8. To enable your wallet, click “Enable account” and complete the transaction.
9. Once the transaction is successful, you will see “Account enabled” message on the screen
10. Now you are ready to use your wallet on the network.

Note: Developers will need to set the gas limit manually when deploying a smart contract or sending transactions via scripts. Similarly you can expect warnings, which you can ignore, while deploying smart contracts via remix.

The Block Explorer has some fields that are unnecessary for Redbelly Devnet and should be ignored. Following is the list of unnecessary fields (not exhaustive):

• Confirmations
• Uncles
• Mined By
• SHA3UNCLES
• Difficulty
• Gas Price
• Tx Fees

How to get Redbelly Coins for Devnet:

1. Start by heading to the Devnet Support Portal
2. Once in the portal you will be asked to Sign up to Atlassian, you will receive an email to confirm your account.
3. Once you log into the account, go to page “Request RBNT Test Coins”
4. Enter your email and wallet public address (Metamask address)
5. Wait for few mins and you will get it into your Redbelly EVM wallet
6. To be able to see those coins in your wallet, you need to add Redbelly Devnet Network to your Metamask with the above instructions.

3. Send your EVM Wallet public address in the chat and someone will send you 100 RBNT coins. (It is still a manual process so it might take some time so please be patient)

Note: Devnet Redbelly Coins hold no financial value and can only be used to deploy contracts and/or for testing of deployed applications.

As a result, all data on-chain at the time of the restart will be lost. Therefore, it is imperative to use the Devnet exclusively for testing purposes to avoid any unintended consequences.
