Shopping for Bright Baubles

Shopping is what triggers in every woman, a sense of excitement and action. The use of this activity as therapeutic has long been accepted and endorsed by women worldwide. Why would you think this is? Is shopping a stress reliever? It certainly takes your mind off other worries as you focus instead on what you can get. You get to visualise what you want, look through what is available, find exactly what you’re looking for and actually get it! An all-in-one mini vacation of a shopping trip. It is not only a relaxing activity but also a social activity where you interact with not only one’s friends but also others in the same quest as you. Nature has however endowed us with far more effective and efficient stress relievers — the orgasm!

Female of the Species, Deadlier than the Male

Let us consider the activity of shopping and seek it’s origins. I believe it’s source lies in the ancient activity of hunting. Today, hunting is considered game and more of a masculine sport at that. However since the earliest days of (wo)mankind, shopping is a necessity, for survival and an activity that was in many species conducted by the female. Not only did the female of the species organise these hunts, but she also tutored her offspring in this predatorial activity. The Old Jungle saying goes that the female of the species is deadlier than the male. Women today however have been likened to the ‘weaker sex’, the ‘fairer gender’, etc. and stereotyped as docile and demure. Do women today experience the same adrenaline rush of hunting via shopping?

Subdued into Submission

It has long been known that to keep a powerful entity subdued with ease, it’s best to keep them engaged in activity that distracts from reality. Drugs are the easiest to cite examples of such activity. However organised religion can easily fit the same bill as the average mind is content with being told what to do and how to behave, rather than indulge in individual exploration and analysis. Women have long been subdued as the weaker sex by using social and religious practises that place her at a level lower to the male. There has been much talk of feminism and a call for equality between the sexes, but true empowerment is rare. Allowing a woman to work alongside a man or choose her own path in life are barely trinkets; like those given to tribals by colonisers as they plundered their resources of precious stones.

Damsel in Distress: Frail or Fierce?

All the news about women being victims of rape, screams for protection of the damsel in distress by making the world a safer place to live in. Truth however is that the civilisation we live in is a sheer veneer. The world is and always will be as brutal and unforgiving as the jungle our ancestors lived in. There will always be predators and there will always be prey. That is the order of nature. Women in our times have been defanged to play the softer role and are led to believe that they need to be protected, so as to maintain the carefully ordained dominance of the male species in recent times. True that nature has made the male of the our species physically stronger and bigger, but every real combatant knows that strength and size are not the only attributes that win fights. Speed, agility and endurance are as vital in the fight for victory; attributes that are more accessible to the female of our species. Not to mention that strategy and subterfuge can easily turn the tide of victory in favor of it’s practitioners. Thus, the ferocity of the female is not limited to winning screaming matches as is often witnessed in modern relationships.

Sexual Liberation

The more important difference between male and female sexuality is not the phallic superiority that man proclaims but rather the capacity for multiple orgasms in women. In many societies even today men may take many wives if they are economically capable of providing for them. Laughably, it is actually the other way round. Women capable of multiple orgasms are naturally empowered to go on and on and on.. with multiple partners (obviously since men aren’t bestowed with such rapid recovery times or stellar stamina to match). And yet, the woman is proclaimed as the weaker sex who must be protected and taken as a wife — in order to ensure she is cared for through the course of her existence. The girl child is empowered today by means of education to know her equal rights in the world we live in. What about knowing her rights as a powerful and evolved sexual being? True liberation is not teaching women to enter the same vocations as men but to empower themselves by embracing their sexuality without shame.

The Elusive (O)

There are debates about the female orgasmic response and no unified theory to explain those orgasmic reflexes and sexual responses. They’ve been classified into many varieties from single or multiple clitoral, vaginal, blended orgasms to expanded, enhanced, prolonged orgasms like the elusive ‘Status orgasmus’ — the continuous orgasms that last from 1 minute to 10-15 minutes (or more). Eastern cultures have tried to discover the limits and extents of female orgasmic response for centuries and in the West, Sigmund Freud first pronounced the existence of different kinds of female orgasms. The Female orgasm is a neuro-psychological response and peak experience that results from the accumulated sexual tension, sexual stimulation, arousal and internal sexual build up, which is accompanied by neural and psychological discharge. Proper study and practise of this will grant a more healthy and pleasurable life to both women and men.

Coming back to diamonds and orgasms... It would be a far better world if women woke up from the merry go round of shopping for twinkling trinkets and embraced that which is rightfully and inherently theirs — The power to make the world go round.. and round.. and round. Like a wise man rightfully said..
