Google had a solution to a sticky problem, but it was hardly original, after all public media (especially ‘free’ network TV) has long been paid for by advertising. My theory has been that the driving factor was that MasterCard and Visa did not want to process micropayments, though they had the ability to do so. Otherwise I could spend a couple of cents or a nickle or dime to read an Internet content, thereby providing revenue directly to the content producer.
