Rehearsals at a Standstill
Not many things stop a rehearsal, but this certainly did.
A good friend of mine had asked me to help him rehearse his lines for the TV show he was acting in. The setting for this rehearsal was my living room.
Roughly half way through his script, his cell phone rings — not a problem, I might as well grab a couple of beers whilst I wait for his call to end.
“Oh my God! You can’t not be serious? What Channel?”
What on Earth is my friend talking about? Have they cancelled his show or something?
“Gareth! Put the TV on now!”
“What channel mate?”
“Any!”
Neither of us could have been prepared for what we witnessed next.
The first tower ablaze, reports of a plane crash: then, live footage of the second plane. We all know the rest.
Never before have I felt so sick, frightened and concerned all at the same time.
That day, was the day I decided to join the British Armed Forces.
