#ProbesSoWhite

Jean Grae is dead to me. She has accepted the job of hosting The Golden Probe Awards on October 2nd to bestow recognition on the best and the brightest in the world of misogyny. And once again, I’m hardly surprised that every nominee is white. And there are only 2 women.
Why Jean? Why?
Why would you host an event where people of color have yet again had their talents whitewashed from another awards show? Aren’t you at all concerned that NOT A SINGLE NOMINEE reflects the diversity of voices who profoundly deny women abortion rights? This erasure ignores the real work that is being done in minority communities to disenfranchise and oppress women.

Didn’t you ask yourself, “Where are the Black foes of abortion? Where is Ben Carson?” Where is Marco Rubio? He is a remarkably prolific in policy making that keeps women vulnerable.
Nothing? Leaving these two men out is an embarrassing oversight at best, and the height of whitewashing at it’s worst and yet not a word from you. You are a member of this community. YOU KNOW THIS. How do you look in the mirror? And most importantly, how do you expect to create a new generation of young aspiring misogynists of color, if they do not see themselves on cable news, in congress and having their work celebrated at events like The Golden Probes.
Jean Grae and The Golden Probes need to take a good look at the systemic bias that recognizes only white anti-abortion douchebags (itself a term rooted in white culture). Time to probe your own privilege, Golden Probes.
