A Million Vibrations

“Neurons and DNA” painting by Dimitry Stepanoff

Last evening as I was reading ‘Iraqi’s Sufi poetry, I was suddenly cognizant of the multiplicity of my own physical being — particles, atoms, molecules all moving and vibrating in creation’s eternal dance of Allah’s expression. My multitude of cells ever creating and refreshing, with the nucleus of my cells holding the DNA blueprint for my very being, cast out in life’s landscape of duty, hiding within it my calling. Allah holds everything together with the intention of His love, and the power of His Force.

The multiplicity of being
vibrates with a thousand strings,
played in the essence of unity,
and yet the One is manifest in my all —
the ladder of a million forms,
a determinate of Allah’s will.

It is suffering that shoots streams of creativity out of my heart, and the brokenness of life that explodes my heart into its soul.
