Crying In the Wilderness

“I will find new meaning in every joy and sorrow. In that silence, I will hear the voice of spirit and freed from this world, I will see another world where the end is another beginning.” — Rumi

Who can know the ways of the Lord?
Cast your arrogance aside
and listen for His voice;
He calls to you in signs
hidden in strange voices,
in a child’s plea
in tears dripping down
sodden faces of sad eyes.
Where is Allah the Most High?
He is found in the softness of your heart
and not in harsh voices,
Where is Allah the Most High?
Crying in the wilderness of time
languishing in those of lost hope.
Where is Allah the Most High?
Crying in the wilderness of time
speaking through the voices of His children —
time is of a sad element
spoken through anguished voices
crying out in the wilderness of space
speaking of lonely places
lonely voices
Time.
