Maybe I am Setting Off a Spark?

Free verse poetry allows the psyche to express itself in a flowing manner that is needed when the conscious simply needs to unload its intensity — whether due to suffering or joy. However, that being said, I still enjoy writing various poetry forms. My favorite is the Ghazal with its repeating refrains — I like the challenge of following a set form, which certainly requires more time and effort, but is usually well worth it. There is a time and a circumstance for everything, and that includes what poetry form is chosen. Yesterday I wrote my first Nonet which fit nicely into the theme of my exegesis of Surah 13 of the Qur’an. The last line is a one syllable word — and ironically “one” was the last word in my poem symbolizing the importance of unity with Allah.
