On November 13, the biweekly Community Development Call led by CTO Aaron Craelius updated the community on the validator led testnet, Cosmos SDK, geospatial pre-processing pipeline, reDAOmint, the Open Earth Collaboration at Yale, Ecuador and agroforestry work, and visual development for Regen Network’s product. Below, we go into a recap of these topics to update the community on Regen Network’s development.

Validator Led Testnet is Running

  • Chorus One and Chainflow successfully launched a community testnet with 13 active volunteer validators.
  • While Regen Network does not have any nodes on this testnet, we are super excited for strong community leadership and participation.

Upgrade Module Merged into Cosmos SDK

  • The upgrade module has officially merged into Cosmos SDK. Currently, Regen Network is working on formal specifications for the upgrade module in addition to several enhancements.
  • For further updates, check out this Telegram Channel: https://t.me/cosmos_cg_upgrades

Regen Network has Open Sourced a Geospatial Pre-Processing Pipeline

  • Gregory Landua, Chief Regeneration Officer, updated us on this huge accomplishment. Within the geo-spatial analytics space, these sorts of tools are closed sourced and difficult to come by.
  • This pipeline is a great tool for people who want to create analysis-ready data or want to pull in data from large repositories.
  • This is the first baby step for Regen Network towards a decentralized ecological oracle system by making it possible for open-sourced code and cryptographic signatures at every single step of a data processing pipeline.

reDAOmint

  • Following up on the DeFi Hackathon Project, Aaron informed us that the project consisted of fractional, non-fungible token ecosystem services.
  • Essentially, this is a way of creating a regenerative endowment, where funds of the endowment are invested in various assets of the blockchain ecosystem where they have dividends and rewards.

Open Earth Collaboration at Yale

  • Gregory next reminded us that Regen Network will be participating in the Open Earth Collaboration this weekend at Yale University, in addition to other groups participating worldwide.
  • The Open Earth Collaboration’s aim includes creating a global carbon accounting system with a heterogeneous network.
  • This ongoing initiative based out of Yale will reconvene on Earth Day 2020.
  • Also, on Monday, November 23, Our-Sci, an on the ground data collection for sciences, will join Regen Network to integrate crypto signatures into the Our-Sci app.

Ecuador and AgroForestry

  • Dr. Gisel Booman briefly updated us that her project in Ecuador and identification with monocultures and polycultures is going well. She has received new polygons that match very well with the pre-classification sentinel imagery polygons.

Registry Design for Product Development

  • Last, Daniel Swid, who works in design and collaboration, updated us that he is preparing registry designs and visuals for the rest of the team to view.
  • Starting with the seller side of the marketplace, Regen Network is lining up farmers who are interested in the platform and figuring out the ecosystem services they are producing to show them.

If you want to keep up with the community development team’s progress, tune in to the next call on Wednesday, November 27 in our Zoom Room!
