I want to start an exercise where I give 3 brief product ideas at the intersection of two technological trends I’m thinking about. Lately it has been at the intersection of mobile AR and Avatars. This is something I would actively build in, so if you’re an engineer / designer and you like any of these ideas or have been circling around similar ideas… HMU!

Dating App

I’ve spoken on this idea in different forms, but generally I think that dating apps have a unique way of demonstrating new human computer interactions. What I like about the idea of an AR Avatar…

I don’t know what drove me to snap. I really don’t. But I do know, I’m over this industry. I don’t say that as some holier-than-thou shit. I also don’t say that as if I’m actually quitting my job. I’m not. I love it here and what we are striving for is extremely refreshing.

I say “I’m quitting tech” in a sense of temporary retreat. Perhaps an act of self-preservation. Perhaps this piece is what will get recognition and I will break through that thing we glorify as “the struggle”. Everyone’s playing the game differently.

I haven’t taken the time…

A few days ago on Twitter, I announced that I would be accepting a role on the strategic operations team at JUMP Bikes. Since graduating from Wharton last May, I’ve been working on SUSHI with my team and a few other ideas on my own as well. In surrender to my youth and other forces I thought it would be a good experience to sit and learn at a startup doing very meaningful work.

Upon signing with JUMP I thought it would be a good time to take a Twitter break. Disconnect from my constant broadcasting of manic thoughts and…

This post will be pretty transparent. These past few months have been exhausting. More emotionally exhausting than anything else. Because I’ve experienced, primarily, denial. And denial, as a founder, is something you read about constantly. But like anything you read, it remains in abstraction. It’s not until you experience it for yourself, time after time, that it’s internalized. And like Drake’s “Look What You’ve Done”, it cuts deep.

VC feedback after a “no” can be frustrating. Some do it well and others, in short, do it quite poorly. One piece of “encouragement” that always frustrated me was “less is more…

There is a world of social technology waiting to be explored that doesn’t rely on algorithmic feeds.

What is the function of an algorithmic feed?

In short, algorithmic feeds are to compress our perception of time, in order to consume information in the moment. And to keep our attention for as long as possible, in order to see more advertising, as they attempt to surface what they believe is what we want to see. Or, if not directly tied to our interest, will at least be tantalizing enough for us to engage with.

With social’s wedding to media, what do we predominantly see in our feeds. Content. A…

I believe that one of the main reasons that Snapchat is so different is because Evan chose to build it in LA. It’s why, in my opinion, there is still a wide open gate for social companies, partially because NYC still doesn’t have their own big social win. There’s Tumblr and Foursquare. But I don’t believe they have shaped the culture of technology in New York like Facebook has in the Bay, or Snap has in LA. I’ve never been to Seattle, so I can’t speak to it’s tech culture. …

One of my New Years resolutions is blogging much more consistently. Help myself organize my thoughts in a new way, although it might just be stream of consciousness. Get some ideas out there. The usual stuff. I won’t have a set style for these weekly posts, but HERE WE GOOOOOOOOO!!!!

When I look at building, I don’t want to simply address a problem. I want to create a universe. A universe that is vastly different than the current trajectory of how we believe things will be done and problems will be solved.

I believe universe building is the core mindset…

This is my friend Cody, he’s a cool dude

I’m sitting at Greecologies on Broome Street. I’m working and catching up with a friend I haven’t seen in some time. At 4pm we plan on going to a new Danish outerwear store opening on Lafayette. RAINS. There are free goodie bags and beer, and as broke founders we love free stuff.

After the event we decide to walk up Lafayette to Union Square Park. My friend has to pick up some equipment for a gig he has coming up. While walking up Lafayette we see a crowd and some paparazzi waiting outside of a building. It’s a building I…

This is the unedited version of my open letter to the Pocono Record. You can access the published piece here.

I’m 9 years old running through the woods in autumn. A kaleidoscope of gold, red, orange. My brother is chasing me as I weave in and out of the trees. My mother calls for us from the house. Dylan down the street wants to play. Hand in hand, my brother and I walk down the street. We let go once we know mother can’t see. Our neighbors wave to us. The rambunctious boys that don’t cry when they fall off…

I am someone that truly values moments of reflection. This past summer was a non-stop grind. After graduating from Wharton I took a week to go to the wilderness of Maine with a few close friends, and then I moved back to NYC to build SUSHI with a rockstar team. I was able to take a day off two weeks ago to finally reflect on this summer, and it inspired me to write this post.

“The harder I work, the luckier I get.”- Samuel Goldwyn

What am I about to read.

I’m writing this to share my story of building product this summer, and share a…

This is all old. I don’t write or probably think like this anymore. But I will leave it up as the history of myself
