Ain’t no fun if the homies can’t…. be free too.

Every now and then I have to type notes to myself to reaffirm lessons I’m learning. Lessons I’ve learned the hard way and those I’ve learned by watching others touch the hot stove.

“Leadership isn’t about power or position, it’s about the people and responsibly using the influence you have to make an impact. Take some time and get the right people, on the right bus, in the right seats and set an agenda that will have a lasting impact on your TEAM and the people you serve”

The development of your capacity as leader will only expand as you put those practices to work and help those around you do the same.

It will not happen over night. The cultures you inherited, the cultures you seek to build, will take more than just a few trust falls, team lunches and birthday cards. It will take a commitment to something larger than each individual, but will require the best of each individual.

Each Person. Whole. Free. Valued. Valuable.

Certainly, we can build organizations that allow people to bring their whole selves in? Shouldn’t that be our quest. Yea, yea, yea… inclusion is good for the bottom line. But are people whole. Present. Healthy. Or just place holders and diversity report box checkers?

I’m on a quest to squeeze every dripping ounce of the giftings God placed inside of me. Working with people, organizations and causes that embrace that is true freedom. For that’s my biggest fear…bondage.

“Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. … We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ … And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” -Alice Walker

Be free & take the homies with you.
