poem to my favorite tree

You
Wear the sun
Like a crown.

Even though
I’ve seen you
Naked
Many winters in a row.
With your sad broken branches

How do you do it?
Bounce back
So joy, fully
Without shame?

We all come
And go
And you
proudly thrive
In this tiny sleepy town

Is there that much
To learn
From the Earth
Beneath you
And your own
Infinite old soul?
That you can stay
Rooted
While the rest of us
Go?

You remind me
There can also be
Beauty
And thriving
In comfort zones.
