Sufism has a history in India evolving for over 1,000 years. The presence of Sufism has been a leading entity increasing the reaches of Islam throughout South Asia. Following the entrance of Islam in the early 8th century, Sufi mystic traditions became more visible during the 10th and 11th centuries of the Delhi Sultanate and after it to the rest of India. The sufis have often been credited with the conversion of non-Muslims to Islam, but the phenomenon of conversion denies any simplistic explanation. The early orientalist writings mistakenly portray sufis as ‘missionaries’ or proselytizers of Islam, who converted non-Muslims to Islam in large numbers. We all have heard about the term Sufi because nowadays it is quite famous in the Bollywood industry. Bollywood often portrayed that Sufi is one of the most coolest version of Islam. But Islam and cool is that even going well with one another? As Islam portrayes the picture of Sufism as peace lover, kind, supporter of violence but none of them came to India with these ideologies. The Islam religion always tried to object that they love peace but in reality they are the one who created fear in the minds of non-Muslim people. They had come as a part of invading armies or had participated in Jihadi wars against Hindu kings, aimed at capturing their kingdoms and wealth and enslavement of their people. While Moinuddin fought for Mohammad Ghauri, Nizamuddin Aulia had fought for Sultan Alauddin. However, instead of adapting a missionary approach towards spreading Islam, they were the spiritual and moral supporters of bloody Jihad waged by Islamic invaders. In Kashmir, it was the Sufis who had inspired the wholesale level destruction of Hindu temples, the slaughter of Hindus and their forced conversions. Sufis never stopped the Islam leaders from slaughtering Hindus, because they also wanted to create violence in the country. These Sufis were behind many wars and conversions of Hindus. Khwaja Moinuddin is said to have played an active role in the war by Ghauri against Prithviraj Chauhan. It is also said that he had encouraged forced conversions, slavery and kidnapping of Hindu women. We all know how Islam and Islamic leaders are real reason behind many wars in the country but still some people keep hyping those criminal who murdered a large number of innocent people. Today also we hear a number of cases where Muslim people kill Hindu people just for doing nothing. These are the things which have been prevalent from the early days and still it is going on.
