All marketing efforts in order to be effective need to be associated with a campaign. I am sure you have heard, somewhere or another, of the term ‘marketing campaign’. Now this isn’t a marketing buzzword, or something that was created to make things more confusing. No, it actually serves a purpose.

A campaign by definition: are marketing efforts performed by a company to increase awareness for a particular product, service, or event. A campaign has a limited duration and It can range for over a year, or be as short as a day.

So the question is how do you run an effective one?

The first thing to do is with any campaign is to create a clear set of goals. What are you trying to accomplish with your overall campaign? Are you trying to increase awareness for a product, specific event, or the overall brand? These are the questions that you need to answer when creating the goals for a campaign. What the metric results you are looking for. All of these things need to be defined in order to tell your effectiveness.

What is your persona?

Each campaign has an individual, or set of personas, that you are talking to. These are the people that you are offering your solution for. In your messaging this is who you should be directly talking to. Think about this individual when you are putting together your content.

Tactics?

Every great campaign needs great tactics Some examples of some great tactics are social media, marketing automation, and email. Used correctly these tactics make campaigns effective. Track your messaging with your tactics using analytics to help you track your tactics. In order to evaluate your campaign.

How long is a campaign?

Now each campaign is going to be different. Some campaigns are going to be year long, and others will be a few days. For example let’s say that you have a brand awareness campaign. This campaign can be a whole year, have several personas, and several different messages. However, a campaign for an event that is coming up next month may be a few months.

What do we call this thing?

The name for a campaign is completely up to you. Now, it would make sense to internally give it some meaning because it may be a part of your external messaging. This can be a product campaign like a new baseball bat.
