mmm..except all of us are not the descendants of victims of slavery and it is ignorant to assume that we are. North Carolina has always had large free black communities going back to the colonial days. A person can change their name, hope it changes the mistreatment but doubtful a name change will have that effect. How about we end slavery for real this time by starting with the removal of the slavery exception clause in the 13th Amendment. Let us work on freeing people from modern slavery and human trafficking, you know like the free black communities that helped the victims of slavery escape running the Underground Railroad with allies and were the backbone of the abolitionist movement?
