You forgot:

40. We already knew who we were going to hire before we advertised for the position. We just wanted to make it look good.

41. That candidate we chose before seeking applicants is the boss’/my supervisor’s son-in-law, brother, nephew, girlfriend, boyfriend, bookie or the clerk in accounting who laughs at his/her jokes and does nothing but tell him/her what a wonderful boss she/he is while the rest of us do the work delegated to them.

42. We didn’t advertise because the company had a legal obligation to look for candidates outside the firm, although we do, and we claim we advertised to make the process look good in 40, but the real reason is that the boss wanted to watch us hustle to complete a task he/she knew we knew was pointless.
