In China, an erupted herd of elephants roams the country.

The pachyderms leave a trail of devastation. Now the group is heading straight for a metropolis of millions.

But stopping the protected animals is proving to be difficult.
A “wall” made of trucks is supposed to protect houses and people in China from a herd of wild elephants.

The approximately 15 animals broke out of a wildlife park in the border region to Laos and Myanmar and had already caused millions of euros in damage when they migrated through the country, reported the Chinese television.

The herd has already moved 500 kilometers north and is now up to move in the south-west of the country.

According to the Chinese broadcaster CCTV, the herd is now on the outskirts of the metropolis of Kunming.

On Sunday, state television showed footage of a long convoy of trucks parked along a street. “We are here to block the elephants,” said one of the drivers. “As long as you need me for it, I’ll stay here.”
