The Hypocrisy on Joe Mixon by the coward Clay Travis

In 2014, Oklahoma Sooner star running back Joe Mixon was involved in an incident which culminated in him punching a female student in the face, leaving her with a broken jaw. A few days ago, attorneys of the RB released surveillance video footage of the incident. The video shows Mixon entering a sandwich shop to confront the female student. Words appear to be exchanged, then the woman shoves and slaps Mixon before he feints and counters with a punch flooring the woman. He was charged with a misdemeanor at the time of the incident, and the university suspended him for the entire 2014 season.

As with the release of the footage that ended former NFL running back Ray Rice’s career, the outrage has been amped because of the visual evidence. One can’t help but wonder what extra emotions were stirred when the video showed a blonde white woman on the receiving end of a young black athlete’s fist. But the Twitter reactions did reveal an ugly facade of outrage with racist undertones. Often times, some bigoted journalist or even everyday fans will flock like vultures to negative stories on black athletes with much more vigor than an athlete of another race. You see it all the time. A guy who kneels in protest to the National Anthem is somehow a “thug.” Or how a Tennessee mom is going to explain the horror of her 9 year old kid seeing a QB do “the Dab.” None more ever present than the hot garbage takes from Southern writer Clay Travis of Fox Sports. Repulsed by the concealed but pungent reek of bigotry of one of his tweets, I simply asked Clay if had the same angry reaction for Brock Turner that he had for Joe Mixon. Brock Turner is the white former Stanford swimmer who only served a measly 3 months in jail after sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. Clay’s response was that of a cornered rat, he immediately attacked me.

Clay Travis offered no link to the supposed multiple articles about Brock Turner. I only asked because I suspected he was more outraged because of the black athlete/white woman dynamic than the actual assault itself. Both of these college athletes received slaps on the wrist but the lynch mob should have been a lot louder for the rapist. After no water….and hours of searching for a Clay Travis article that rid this hint of bigotry. I only found links that reinforced my sentiment. The guy is sitting on a gold mine of articles bashing 49er Colin Kaepernick for his protest. I also found a gem of him defending the Confederate Flag with the “i’m offended that you’re offended “ argument. Then there’s the Native American racial slurs are okay because they aren’t offended story. His source is a Washington Post poll that says 90% of Natives aren’t offended by the Washington Redskin name. Laughable. The outrage since the video release of the Joe Mixon punch is understandable. You won’t see me taking the “she initiated it” defense. The smart thing would have been for him to contact the police and let her deal with the assault charges. He chose the moral cowardice of full on assault by laying out someone who hit him, no matter that she was a woman. A fake tough guy. I slapped @claytravis with this, and well…we know how cowards react.
