Tai Thong Group’s (大同皇苑) Chinese New Year Specialties @ Imperial Garden Restaurant Petaling Jaya Experience
During the night after office hour end, I was grateful to have an opportunity to review Tai Thong Group’s (大同皇苑) Chinese New Year specialties food, specially thanks to Mr Eddy. Previously I have attend another food review from his invitation at Spring Garden (荔苑) Chinese restaurant and truly enjoyed it last year. Around 7pm I make a move from office walked to Imperial Garden restaurant at Petaling Jaya although the weather is raining. Upon arrival at the ground floor building, I took the lift up to 7th floor and the first scene I saw is shown below.
Please note that my blog post picture’s quality is not really good since my main focus for blogging is for sharing experience instead of focusing more on picture qualify. (I wish can train better in future)
I went to meet Mr Eddy and selected number 8 seat as eight represent prosperity in Chinese believe.
Guess most of the people like to be “rich” with number eight right?
After that, I went out to take the picture of the Chinese New Year Specialties and saw prosperity god (财神爷) around as he gave me one Chinese mandarin orange.
The chef of Tai Thong have created a irresistible range of menu that include all the delicacies most associated with fine Chinese dining to welcome the Year of Monkey. Below is the name of the dishes that I taken there.
1) Golden Fortune Yee Sang. (assorted fruits and nuts)
2) Fortune Seafood Treasure Pot.
3) Double-boiled dried premium seafood soup served in coconut.
4) Chilled “Nian Goa” with Osmanthus and Sakura
5) Claypot Rice with Chinese Waxed meat and Edamame
6) Steamed Triple Delight with Oyster Sauce
7) Baked Dried Oyster Tart
8) Steamed Bamboo Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat
9) Steamed “Fatt Choy” Dumpling with Prawns
Upon seated, I just flip through the food menu below.
The food dining started with singer singing in front and followed by Mr Eddy speech together with two chef.
The opening ceremony started with Monkey King (齐天大圣) performance and Prosperity God serving the first dish which is Yee Sang.
It was my first “E-Sang” of this year before Chinese New Year start.
It is quite new to me since it was my first time to “Lou Yi Sang” in fruit version instead of having the normal type with salmon. The 2nd dish that being served is the Steamed “Fatt Choy” Dumpling with Prawns and I really liked the taste very much.
The 3rd dish is Baked Dried Oyster Tart and it taste quite special for me.
Next, we’re being served with the 4th dish, Steamed Bamboo Rice with Chinese Waxed Meat and I like the bamboo smell in the rice.
The 5th dish is Steamed Triple Delight with Oyster Sauce and I like the minced fish taste.
Here come the 6th dish, double-boiled dried premium seafood soup served in coconut and I liked the taste of the soup as it is thick and have abalone inside.
Finally the main dish for today which is the 7th dish, Fortune Seafood Treasure Pot is being served.
The taste of the prawn is really fresh for my experience.
The 8th dish is Claypot Rice with Chinese Waxed meat and Edamame as the taste is similar to bamboo rice taste but it is more salty.
We have our 9th dish, Chilled “Nian Goa” with Osmanthus and Sakura which is the last dish of the day as our dessert.
The taste of this dessert is quite special as it make me feel like I am eating mooncake with koniyaku jelly.

Overall I enjoyed the food review experience. Somehow the person that I familiar met at there is Ms Kelly and Mr Isaac. I remember Ms Kelly told me to promise to bring a plus +1 next year. She said don’t see girl beauty from outside and see the girl’s beauty from inside. It is a bonus if the girl is beauty inside and outside. Somehow I just felt that earning $$ is quite important at my age other than thinking about girl. Stay positive! Happy Chinese New Year in advance!
