I love renewables and clean air just as much as anyone else, but a lot of these statistics miss the fact that the intermittent nature of renewables and the lack of cost-effective grid-scale storage options are severely limiting their deployment and baseload capacity. When the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow, coal and gas plants must burn.
